Skin Concern:
Blackheads & Whiteheads
Blackheads and whiteheads, also known as comedones, are two of the most common types of acne. They occur when pores in the skin become clogged with a combination of excess oil (sebum), dead skin cells, and bacteria.

How do Blackheads & Whiteheads Form?
Excess Oil Production: Overactive sebaceous glands produce excess oil, which can clog pores.
Dead Skin Cell Buildup: Dead skin cells can accumulate in pores, trapping oil and bacteria.
Hormonal Changes: Hormonal fluctuations, such as those that occur during puberty, pregnancy, and menstruation, can increase oil production.
Certain Medications: Some medications can increase oil production as a side effect.
Types of Clogged Pores
These appear as small, dark spots on the skin, often on the nose, forehead, and chin. The "black" color comes from the oxidation of sebum when it's exposed to air.
These are closed comedones that appear as small, white bumps beneath the skin's surface.

Treating Blackheads & Whiteheads
Cleansers: Wash your face twice daily with a gentle, non-comedogenic cleanser.
Exfoliants: Regularly exfoliate with chemical exfoliants (like salicylic acid or AHAs) or physical exfoliants (like gentle scrubs) to remove dead skin cells.
Moisturiser: Even oily skin needs moisture. Choose a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer.
Serums: Retinoids can help unclog pores and reduce oil production, and Niacinamide can regulate oil production, reduce inflammation, and improve skin barrier function.
