Why is SPF Important Year-Round?
A popular misconception is that you should only wear sunscreen on a sunny day. However, it's important to wear sunscreen daily to ensure protection from UV rays. These are more prominent during the Summer-time, however it also poses a risk throughout all seasons.
As a general rule of thumb, sunscreen should be worn daily. Not wearing this can result in the health risks of melanoma or other skin cancers. Alongside this, it can result in various cosmetic concerns from premature ageing to acne scarring.
Know Your Sun Protection Factor
The level of UV protection a sunscreen provides is key, as it determines its ability to block UV rays. This is important to consider during warmer seasons, which have higher UV radiation rays.
See the sunscreen SPF 30 vs 50 breakdown:
- UV Ray Coverage: SPF 30 sunscreens protect against 97% of UV rays. On the other hand, sun protection of up to 98% of UV rays is provided by SPF 50.
- How Often to Reapply: SPF 30 often needs reapplication every two hours, particularly after recreational activities. SPF 50 offers longer protection, meaning that you don't have to reapply it as frequently.
- Skin Type Suitability: SPF 30 is suitable for darker skin tones which are less likely to be sunburned. While SPF 50 offers enhanced protection for fair skin that is more sensitive upon sun exposure.

How To: Find a Sunscreen that...
Works Well Under Makeup
The right skin preparation is essential for a long wearing base. This is why it's easy to be discouraged with a bad sunscreen formula, leaving you with greasy makeup.
Instead, find makeup compatible formulas with our Results Laser Clinic Active Protect. This sunscreen with SPF 50 isn't formulated with greasy ingredients, unlike traditional sunscreens. Which helps your complexion stay matte and makeup adhere better.
Alongside this, we offer the Medik 8 advanced day total project. This lightweight product works perfectly as the right skin preparation. The fast drying formula also helps makeup stay in place throughout the day.
Acts as a Moisturiser
Purchasing skin care for unique purposes can be costly. At Results Laser Clinic, we offer dual action sunscreens, with both hydrating and sun protective elements. Over-time, the harsh UV rays can be drying to the skin which is why this is important.
Our Active Protect product is formulated to be the best hydrating sunscreen with SPF 50. It contains glycerol (glycerin) which is a popular hydrating element. This allows the skin to retain moisture, as it sucks in water from the deep skin layers.
We also offer the Medik8 Advanced Day Total product, containing Hyaluronic Acid. This star ingredient is commonly used in hydrating skincare formulas. It provides smooth and nourished skin through managing 1000 times its water weight.
Suits my Complexion
We know that when sunscreens leave a white caste, it can be the most unwanted skin care step. Our exclusive range encompasses products formulated for every skin complexion. The Results Laser Clinic Active Protect leaves no white caste behind upon application. Providing immediate skin absorption upon application.
We also offer the Medik8 Advanced Day Total Protect for an invisible finish. This wears like a day cream, leaving no unpleasant residues behind. Delivering a seamless complexion, with every use.

FAQS
Do you apply sunscreen or moisturiser first?
For a physical sunscreen to act as a protective barrier, it should be the final step in your routine. Once moisturiser has been applied, allow it to sit for 2-3 minutes. Then apply sunscreen to maximise absorption into the skin.
How do I Apply SPF 50 Sunscreen Correctly?
As a general rule of thumb, apply a teaspoon of sunscreen to each arm, leg, front, and back of the body. When applying to your face, instead opt for a quarter of a teaspoon. Remember to apply every 2 hours at minimum, especially when swimming or sweating.
Can You Tan with SPF 50 Sunscreen?
A common myth is that high SPF sunscreens prevent tanning. SPF 50 only reduces the amount of UV radiation, it doesn't completely block all rays. This means that it's still possible to achieve a tan gradually, all while limiting the chances of sun dangers like cancers. Please note that the Cancer Council Australia says that ‘no tan is a safe tan’, as it can put you at risk of skin damage.
How long before going outside should I apply sunscreen?
You should apply sunscreen at least 15 to 20 minutes before going outdoors. This allows it to fully bind to the skin and begin working effectively. Make sure it's fully absorbed to ensure the best protection against UV rays.
Should I Use Sunscreen if My Skin is Acne-Prone?
Yes, you can and should use sunscreen even if you have acne-prone skin. This is because sun exposure can increase the chances of acne scarring, or other hyperpigmentation.
Instead, look for products labelled "non-comedogenic," meaning they won't clog pores. At Results Laser Clinic, we offer an exclusive range which is formulated to prevent break outs.
