What are the Types of Rosacea?

When it comes to this medical skin condition, there are many different forms. Once the type of rosacea has been understood, this provides guidance for the right rosacea skincare.

Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea (ETR)

As a well known form of Roseaca, this is known for causing widespread redness. It poses increased skin sensitivity, as well as some discovering visible blood vessels on the skin's complexion. Its symptoms include a stinging or hot sensation on the face.

Papulopustular Rosacea (PPR)

This form of rosacea can appear as "adult acne", as it triggers breakouts across the skin. Depending on the severity of the condition, it can present itself as several red-bumps and/or pus-filled bumps. The symptoms include obvious blood vessels and redness.

Phymatous Rosacea

Usually appearing on the nose, this rosacea takes the form of thick and bumpy skin. This is often accompanied by enlarged pores on the cheeks and chin. Some common symptoms include the clear presence of blood vessels, as well as redness.

What Can Cause Rosacea ?

When it comes to Rosacea, there's no medically known cause for this. This is because it uniquely varies based on each person. However, there are several factors behind this medical condition.

  • Genetic Predisposition: A family history of this skin condition can increase the chances of Rosacea.
  • Lifestyle Triggers: Excess sun exposure, humidity, alcohol and spice can cause skin irritation.
  • Blood Vessel Dilation: Once the blood vessels dilate, the increase in blood flow causes redness.
  • Overactive Immune System: When skin has lower immunity to common microbes, like Demodex mites triggering flare-ups.
  • Environmental Factors: Pollution, hot drinks, and cold winds can worsen symptoms.
